Solo la pioggia

The new novel by one of the strongest voices in our literature in recent years. A short and furious drama, merciless and tense, which in precise movements and in a single space is capable of generating
a deflagration.
“It is impossible not to love this novel, hard and crystalline as a diamond.”
Antonio Manzini
Three brothers, Carmine, Papele and Ivano, the Corona brothers. They are construction workers, feared and respected in the country for a disturbing past now buried with money and business.
Carmine is the brains; Papele is the arm; then there is Ivano, the younger brother, who has studied, has not known the jungle of the street, and as a hobby takes beautiful and melancholy photographs.
Every year, on the anniversary of their father’s death, they get together. A visit to the cemetery without wives, children or relatives. And then a dinner, just the three of them. Drinking, eating, laughing, sharing everything, as only between brothers is possible. A custom that has lasted for eleven years.
The dinner is planned at the home of Ivano, who lives alone and is good in the kitchen. That evening it is raining, an unrelenting, maddening rain, which with the complicity of wine induces the three brothers to open up more than usual. It could be a cathartic evening, in which to shed masks worn too long. But the truth is scarier than a comfortable lie.
Only the rain is a short and furious novel, which in precise movements and in a single space is capable of generating a deflagration, setting the stage for the unbreakable bond that ties with the slipknot those who have grown up together and only in the family have placed their trust. And as the water falls uncontainably from the sky, crumbling the walls of the houses built with too little concrete, in the same way the certainties of the three brothers are swept away.
With this fierce, merciless, taut drama, Andrej Longo confirms himself as one of the strongest voices in our literature in recent years, able as few to move around the boundaries of literary genres.
